About Jordan and Alex

About Alex

A native of southern California, I have lived on both coasts. I attended the University of Pennsylvania, where I received a B.A. in English Literature. My areas of intellectual interest span 20th-century post-modern culture, economics, electronic writing, and cultural anthropology as it relates to advances in personal technology, most notably the internet.

An avid traveler, I have seen most of North America and Western Europe, and parts of Africa and Asia. I document these with my 35mm camera. I am also interested in interior design and modern architecture.

I was one of the first 250 members of Amazon.com and worked there from 1997 to 2004. While at Amazon.com, I worked on many aspects of the software platform, from the website engine to global developer tools to supply chain systems. You've used my software.

In my spare time I garden, read, and listen to music (though typically not all at the same time.)

About Jordan

I live in Seattle, work at Amazon.com, and have a loving family living in nearby Anacortes, WA. I love reading, playing volleyball, cooking, gardening, and playing video games targetted at 7 year old Japanese children.

I graduated from Swarthmore College with a degree spanning economics, computer science, and Irish poetry. I like work that sits at the intersection of multiple disciplines.

I recently got engaged to Alex Edelman. We share a house, a garden, and a kitty.
